Burien 4th of July Parade

Volunteers needed to join me and our other 33rd District legislators walking together in the Burien 4th of July Parade.

Parade begins at 3:00PM.  Please assemble at 2:30PM.

The staging area is between the fire station and 148th along 8th Avenue.  Our group is in the "D" section.  The "D" section will apparently be identified with pink balloons.

Feel free to just show up and look for a group of people with "Upthegrove", "Keiser" and "Orwall" signs (and other Democratic stuff).  You'll be helping us by walking with the group and waving signs and handing out candy....

Afterwards, all volunteers are welcome to join me for a BBQ at my folk's house a few minutes from the parade route!
Campaign
If we want change, it begins by improving our economy.  We do this by creating good paying jobs with benefits, investing in education, and making health care more affordable.

In order to have good jobs and a strong economy, we need to keep South King County a great place to live.  This means protecting our clean air, clean water, parks and open spaces.

We also need to invest in a transportation system that will make it easier to get around, provides transit options, and ensures the economic health of our region.

Democrats are running on a strong fiscal record.  The state budget is balanced.  There were zero tax increases.  We have more than $1 billion in reserve.  Unemployment has been the lowest in state history.  And we got the job done on time!

Because our economy has been strong, we have made new investments.  Where?  Primarily in education. Spending was targeted at smaller class sizes, teacher pay raises, more slots at community colleges, and more slots for early learning programs.  The anti-education crowd is criticizing us for this spending, but I believe investing in education is an investment worth making.

Not only did we not raise taxes, but we provided some property tax relief to help homeowners.

It is an honor to serve South King County in the State Legislature and I appreciate your continued support.

Thanks again,

Dave
